Description: Orna, mother of three, whose husband Ofer’s newly opened restaurant is struggling, accepts a position as the personal assistant to residential property developer, Benny. When she introduces clients who buy an apartment, she gets a promotion. Working late one evening in the office, Benny unexpectedly attempts to kiss her. Realising his mistake he apologises, but she immediately leaves without a word. The next day, as she is about to hand her resignation, he begs her to remain and promises that this will not recur. Her continuing success in sales and in securing a lucrative development permit from the city planning department lead to further advancement and promises of commission earnings. On a business trip to Paris, after a night where they celebrated sales successes, Benny again forces himself upon her.
Back in Tel Aviv, Orna returns to the office and requests a letter of reference. Benny refuses and tries to entice her with further bonus payments if she remains. Orna soon realises that without Benny’s recommendation she will be unable to secure a job in the industry. She types out a letter and goes to his home…
Merits: Not a frame is wasted in this timely, intelligent and sensitively written workplace sexual harassment drama. Liron Ben Shlush is outstanding as Orna. She has to contend with a passive-aggressive husband who constantly reminds her of his business woes yet is resentful of her late hours or when she gets her boss to help him obtain business licence. Her gentle attempts to keep a safe distance from Benny after the first incident are portrayed with delicacy and aplomb as is their final confrontation. Outstanding.
Rating: Mild sexual violence.
