היה היה ילד | Uri Levi | Israel, 2019 | Hebrew (English subtitles) | Documentary | 65m | IMDB | Distributor/Sales: Go2Films | Festival marketing sample: Docaviv 2019 | Trailer

Description: Ron lives in Israel with his brothers, parents and cerebral palsy. He is a sweet kid with musical talents and a yearning to go to the same school as his siblings. His twin brother, Yanai, adores him and admires his courage. Ron enjoys his grandmother’s stories about his alter ego, ‘Uri’, though he sternly rebukes her if she accidentally uses his name or if he is unhappy with the plot line. His father, a dog (and dog owner) trainer, exudes positivity and wishes his wife to do the same. She finds it harder to hide her strain. Ron and his parents embark on a trip to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital where he is to undergo a complex operation to slow the progress of the disease.

Merits: This is an intimate and tender film about a remarkable family and how they confront the challenges posed by their son’s illness.

Rating: Suitable for all audiences.
