Description: Meir is a retiree living with his psychotherapist wife in Nirit, a village that straddles the Green line, 30km northeast of Tel Aviv. Through a few delicately observed incidents we witness the unwelcome changes of his status in the eyes of his family and community.

Merits: Much like American independent filmmaker Jon Jost’s, Gerner’s laid back style builds a nuanced, fine drawn portrait of a man in crisis. Oren Gerner, who directed the film, has a brief cameo as the son. His father Meir plays the father and his mother Maya, plays the mother. This is not a film for everyone. Some audiences may find it slow. These who persevere will be rewarded.

Rating: Strong language.
